In this course we will give you the answers for all the questions that surround such a wanted specialist in the fashion market. We will analyse times, organization, links and operative methods, connecting the Samples to its natural continuation: the product office.

• Who’s the samples development coordinator, which figures work with him and how a sample department is composed in a textile company.

Timing, organization and links between all the various steps in creating the sample. Observation of all the steps involved in creating the finished sample.

• How the development coordinator practically collaborates with the stylist, the pattern maker, the seamstress, and the outside fabric/accessories suppliers.


From the desk planning of the clothing piece to fabric ordering. How to order, what is taken into account and why.


• The very important phase of correcting the defects of the first samples with the pattern makers, stylist, and seamstress. The changes, review of orders, number of clothing pieces, management of transitions including off-farm with outside workers.


The processing of sample references, the final steps, and the passing of cost information to the purchasing department.

Carolina Scalise
Graduated in Culture and Technique of Costume and Fashion. High school graduated in Knitwear‘s expert sample in the institution “Carpi Formazione” and in Industrial dress designer in the institute “Carlo Secoli”. During the past 15 years she has managed to supervise the entire development sample’s processes as expert coordinator in both fabric and sample’s field.

She worked for single-brand and for third-party industries, which gave her the skills to evaluate every aspect of the product, from different points of view.

Since the beginning she has co-worked with all figures of the knitted product: sample’s specialist, fashion designer, model maker, manufacturer, and programmers.

She has organisational and communication skills, relevant to: the managing of different customers; the personalisation of products according to different requests and the communication with providers and students.

She likes her job as a teacher and giving her knowledge in a unique and technical field such as fashion. This forementioned world is constantly changing, but in its evolution, it always needs specialist figures who know the product to help people tell their story through dresses.
